Nov. 14, 2009, new CF3 members Lauren and John Young welcomed CF3'ers to come and share the excitement of their new home. The excitement of trying to figure out which one of the Dombar brothers designed it in 1954. Actually, Lauren said, "We don't know if either of the Dombar Bros. are behind this house. Some have suggested it. It's a great house -- we've been here 4 years, and the mystery still continues!" Dr. Andrew Weiss commissioned the home in 1954 after he returned from a visit to Japan. He liked a home he had seen in Japan and wanted to recreate it here in Wyoming. The home features custom veneer stains to the woodwork and transom windows through out. Lauren and John enjoy the open plan design and the sheltered courtyard in the back. The home is one of two modern designs in on the street. Photos by Chuck Lohre. At the event Lauren reported that the son of Dr. Weiss had called her earlier with the designer architect, Walter Sheblessy. Susan Rissover added that Sheblessy also designed and built the homes on Morning Star Dr. in Clifton.

Lauren and I did a little research and found a bit more about Sheblessy who did a lot of work in Clifton. Turns out he and Dr. Weiss (first owner of our house) probably knew each other from both being from Northside and attending Hughes High School. Both also served in WWII. His father was a famous architect in the region. Anyway, here's a bit about him: Wally was born Walter Frederick Sheblessy on 2/26/1910 on Berger Hill in Cincinnati, OH. Walter was the son of (pretty famous) John F Sheblessy (1873-1939). Wally married Jean Anne Nerple on 8/17/1940. Wally received his Bachlor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati. Then he earned his Masters Degree from Massachusets Institute of Technology. He practiced architecture in Cincinnati.
