Location: The Alexander House, 124 Congress Run Road, Wyoming, OH 45215 US When: Saturday, March 28, 10:00AM We toured the home of legendary Cincinnati architect and beloved UC professor James Alexander. This 'growing' house was home to the Alexander family for nearly 60 years. The original two room house was added onto through the years and evolved into this fabulous 4 bedroom family home. Jim's grown children will all be on hand to give tours and reminisce about growing up in this dynamic house on a wooded hillside in Wyoming.
Also we took a self guided driving tour of Congress Run Road, a Cincinnati Landmark Modern Street - with homes by Jim Alexander, Tom Zaugg, Cliff May, Ben Dombar, Terry Boling, and others.
We have copies of the new book "50 from the 50's: Modern Architecture and Interiors in Cincinnati" available for $15, with all proceeds benefiting the preservation of modernism in Cincinnati. The Alexander house is prominently featured in the book.
CF3 and the Cincinnati Preservation Association are asking for volunteers to head up or assist in the CPA's Modern Architecture Oral History Project. If you would like to coordinate or interview the architects, owners and others involved with Cincinnati's rich Modern History please contact Bobbie McTurner, Executive Director, CPA 513-721-4506.
