Hi Everyone- I have gotten several e-mails about this house in the last few weeks (see attached). I believe the asking price is $300,000, but it needs significant restoration. I have requested a link to the actual listing and more info on the neighborhood. Anyway, I wanted to pass it on to the cf3 community and see if Chuck has time to post it to the cf3 website. Sounds like potentially another sad tale….. -Susan Hi Susan... I'm a realtor in the Columbus area and we have an interesting home for sale. It was bulit in 1940 and designed by Ted van Fossen, Tony Smith & Larry Cuneo. Attached is a file with links to some recent articles on the home that featured it locally and nationally. If you have a few minutes, take a look at the Columbus Landmarks Foundation site and the "download" links within the site to additional pics and commentaries from architects. We are looking for a buyer that would be interested in preserving this treasure. Our window to save this home is relatively short. We have received a full price offer from a commercial developer who interests are in the land only and plans to raze the improvements. The owner has extended us a little more time to find a buyer who would restore it... but time is limited. Anyway... if you have some ideas or possibly clients that might have an interest in this property... please let us hear from you. Thanks... Bud Byrne Vannatta Brothers, Realtors

Hi Dan,
Thanks for writing, and sorry to hear about the Gunning House. Depending on the time line and local disinterest, very often there's nothing much that can be done. We could include a short letter about it along with a photo in our summer issue Modern Wisdom, but suspect there'd be a level lot by then.
A couple of thoughts on getting the word out:
Realtor Susan Rissover of Huff Realty is a midcentury modern enthusiast in Cincinnati, and is at least in your state. Perhaps she knows of other avenues to try. She'll be a featured player at the upcoming 20th Century Cincinnati show Feb. 28 - March 1; her website is cincinnatimodern.com and I'll copy her on this e-mail.
I believe Joe Kunkel, a Chicago Realtor at modernproperty.com, lists properties in other regions in a sort of national clearinghouse for modern architecture fans. I'll copy him as well.
To reach out to a national audience (friends from Southern California just bought a FLW second property somewhere in the Midwest ...), have you posted anything on lottaliving.com?
And finally, our contact at the National Trust for Historic Preservation is Adrian Fine; perhaps he has a colleague in Ohio with a brilliant idea or three.

Designed by Tony Smith and largely influenced by his brief stint with Frank Lloyd Wright.
The house sits on 2.5 acres and is situated on a ravine. There are two buildings on the property. The owner is asking $300,000.
I am a fan of your publication and I am writing this to you out of desperation that you might connect this to a buyer. I have been asked to do a video on the house to at least preserve the visual if it is indeed to be torn down.
Thank you for your consideration...
