In 1955 two modern homes were built as mirror images of each other for sisters in Kenton Hills, KY. The sisters wanted to be able to wave and speak to each other from their kitichen windows. Near Devou Park, the double lot has a great view of Cincinnati. The homes were used as a promotion for a glass maker's new twin pane glass. Originally furnished completely with a major furniture designer's signature line the homes were showcased in many national publications. Over the years the homes have fallen into disrepair. Currently the lot is for sale. Photo by Susan Rissover.
An article is available on the homes at the Business Courier's web site. "Hillside property offers rare panoramic view of Ohio River Exceptional site above Devou Park could sell for more than $1.5M Cincinnati Business Courier - April 6, 2007 by Laura Baverman Million-dollar condominiums with river views are getting more plentiful in the Tri-State, but million-dollar plots of land with views up and down the Ohio River are rare. The owner of two acres of hillside property above Devou Park is quietly marketing the land, entertaining private offers that are rumored to top $1.5 million. (The owners) employed Russell Myers, a well-known architect from the University of Cincinnati's Design, Art, Architecture and Planning program, to design the homes in a unique contemporary style with a full wall of windows facing north. ... When the property sells, Cincinnati Form Follows Function, a nonprofit modern design forum, will keep some of the historic contents." |
