July 16 - Miller House Tour designed by Eero Saarinen in Columbus, IN. We're all looking forward to cf3's first-ever road trip to Columbus, Ind., and private tour of Eero Saarinen-designed home for J. Irwin Miller and family. Design and construction on the Miller House took four years and was completed in 1957.The home was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2000.The Miller family owned the home until 2008 when Xenia Miller, the last resident of the home, died. In 2009, the home and gardens, along with many of the original furnishings, were donated to the Indianapolis Museum of Art by members of the Miller family. In addition to Eero Saarinen, the house and gardens showcases the work of leading 20th-century figures such as interior designer Alexander Girard, landscape architect Dan Kiley, and principal design associate at the Saarinen office, Kevin Roche.

August 12 – September 15, 2011 - Explore Modernism in Cincinnati at the Betts House Cincinnati Modern Architecture – A Retrospective , explores the impact of mid-century design on Cincinnati’s built environment. An opening reception will be held August 12, 2011 from 5 – 8 pm. In addition to a wealth of nineteenth century architecture, Cincinnati is also home to numerous modernist buildings and residences. The exhibit examines several local iconic twentieth-century architectural treasures, including Terrace Plaza Hotel and Greenhills. The work of celebrated modernist architects, including Abrom Dombar, Woodie Garber, and Carl Strauss, is also explored.
The exhibit is on loan from the modernist architecture organization Cincinnati Form Follows Function (CF3). CF3 created the exhibit in collaboration with the Cincinnati Preservation Association, Enriching Spaces, and the Greenhills Historical Society.
Cincinnati Modern Architecture – A Retrospective can be seen Tuesday through Thursday, 11 am – 2 pm, at the Betts House, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, 12:30 - 5 pm. Project support for this exhibit is provided by a grant from ArtsWave.
ABOUT THE BETTS HOUSE - Built in 1804, the Betts House, Ohio’s oldest brick house, is located in the Betts-Longworth Historic District near downtown Cincinnati. The Betts House is a museum dedicated to the built environment offering exhibits and programs on architecture, historic preservation, building trades and construction technologies. The Betts House is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm; the second and fourth Saturday of each month, 12:30 – 5 pm; and other days and times by appointment.
